10 Things You Probably Don’t Know Yet About Your Body

It’s time to get to know your body more so I have listed below 10 facts about the human body. After reading this you will have gained plus ten popularity points among the ladies (or men!).
Outsides
1. A full-grown human has a skin of almost 25 square feet.
2. The dust in your room is mostly composed of your dead skin cells, which you shed daily at the rate of 30,000 skin cells per minute.
3. The longest beard a male can have  is 30 feet long, that is if he never shave or cut his beard.
4. You are taller in the morning than you are in the evening. This is because when you are awake, the cartilage between your bones are compressed when you are either sitting upright or standing. Try measuring your height when you wake up and in the evening, then compare.
5. The groove between your nose and lips, which is called philtrum, is the point where your face connects when you’re still inside your mother’s womb. Below is a video from BBC that shows how a human face develops.

Innards

1. Your throat consists of two tubes, one for food and one for air. To avoid confusion between food and air there is a flap called epiglottis which closes the windpipe whenever we swallow to avoid food from entering the lungs. Accidents happen, which mainly involve liquids entering the windpipe by mistake which causes liquid from entering the lungs. This is the reason why people choke when eating.
2. Without saliva, the food that you chew and swallow will bruise your innards, making eating a labor. When you chew, your mouth releases saliva that moistens the food. Saliva is also partly responsible for keeping your tongue, teeth, and your mouth walls safe from decay. Also, it also acts as disinfectant, hence the saying “lick your wounds”.
3. Males continue to produce sperm throughout their entire life, while females stop producing egg cells when they reach 45 to 50 years.
4. It is common knowledge that human bones do not finish developing until the early childhood, but did you know that babies from two years and below don’t have kneecaps?
5. It can take up to 48 hours for food to pass through your body completely.
